A Canadian research buyer’s documentation checklist

By ABIDE · Published · 1 min read

Before comparing prices, confirm that the listing identifies the material, the quantity, and any document tied to the specific lot. A short, repeatable checklist makes omissions visible without turning marketing language into evidence.

Start with identifiers you can reconcile

Record the displayed compound name, stated milligrams, whether it is a single compound or a blend, and the date you reviewed the page. If a report is provided, compare its product and lot identifiers with the physical label. A generic example report cannot establish results for another lot.

Use a pre-purchase record

ListingName, components, quantity, price in CAD
DocumentLot identifier, report date, named methods and reporting laboratory
ScopeWhat each result measures, and what it does not
OperationsOnly confirmed storage, payment and shipping details

Keep authorization questions separate

A research-use listing is not evidence of authorization as a medicine. For a Canadian drug, check the specific product record in Health Canada’s database. An ingredient-name match alone does not connect an unrelated vial to that authorization. [Health Canada Drug Product Database]

Read omissions literally

When a listing does not state a specification, record it as “not stated.” Do not fill the gap with assumptions based on another seller, a similar label or a category name. Screenshots and dated notes make later comparisons easier when listings change.

Final check

  • Save the listing and the supplied instructions.
  • Reject unsupported assumptions about sterility, origin or performance.
  • Ask for clarification when identifiers conflict or a specification is absent.
