Tesamorelin

Tesamorelin, also published as TH9507, is catalogued here as: GHRH analogue, growth-axis research. Studied in adults with HIV-associated abdominal fat accumulation for imaging-measured visceral fat and hormone changes. Tesamorelin is described as an analogue of growth hormone-releasing hormone (GHRH), also called growth hormone-releasing factor (GRF). It prompts the body’s own growth-hormone signalling rather than being administered growth hormone, which is why IGF-I is measured as part of the studied response. A hormone-signalling peptide studied in clinical trials involving adults with HIV-related abdominal fat accumulation. Researchers measured internal abdominal fat and growth-related markers.

The relevant clinical research measured visceral adipose tissue by imaging in a defined patient population, alongside hormone markers, withdrawals and adverse events over a fixed study period.

A 2007 randomized trial in 412 patients with HIV and abdominal fat accumulation, over 26 weeks, reported reduced visceral fat and increased IGF-I in that population, with more withdrawals due to adverse events.
